After growing up in Glen Innes Bill attended the University of New England for his Bachelor of Arts and then the University of New South Wales for his Law degree.

Chris Leahy
Chris Leahy
General Counsel

Born and raised in Papua New Guinea, Chris attended boarding school in Sydney for 8 years then attended the Australian National University in Canberra where he graduated in Arts and Law.

After graduating and completing his practical legal training, Chris was admitted as a solicitor and barrister in the Australian Capital Territory and solicitor in New South Wales.  He then moved to Sydney where he worked for one of the country's largest law firms for nearly 3 years.  He worked mainly in the property and finance areas as a transactional lawyer.

After nearly 3 years of legal employment, Chris spent a year conducting camping tours through southern Europe, Scandinavia and North Africa.

On returning to Sydney, Chris became a barrister in 1978. He has been a barrister for 33 years – the last 10 years as senior counsel.

As a barrister, Chris appeared mainly as a trial and appellate advocate in common law, estates and wills, crime, environmental and local government and commercial work.  His clients included insurers, corporations, local councils and individuals.

Having worked as a solicitor and barrister, Chris brings a broad background of experience and expertise to solving a range of legal issues.  His background and experience enables him to take instructions in a litigation matter and retain conduct of the matter until the dispute is finally determined by a court or otherwise resolved.

His early experience in a large commercial legal firm enables him to advise clients and prepare documentation for property matters, commercial transactions, wills and the administration of estates.

Chris is married to Marg, a farmer, garden designer and horticulturist.  They have two daughters and a son.
